Aliens hide from patrols in canyons By Jerry Seper THE WASHINGTON TIMES SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. -- Several hundred illegal aliens are holed up in the canyons of the Coronado National Memorial here, six miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, unable to meet up with smugglers because of ongoing patrols by Minuteman Project volunteers. Cindy Kolb, who has lived in the area for the past six years, yesterday told The Washington Times that she saw about 300 aliens "huddled in the brush" near her home, waiting to come down the wide, brush-covered washes that cross State Highway 92 to be picked up in vans and trucks headed north. "They're hiding in the bushes, waiting to hook up with the smugglers in the very same area that our children wait for the school bus," said Mrs. Kolb, who waits with her daughter daily, armed with a pistol holstered on her ankle. "Maybe President Bush doesn't care about this, but many of us do," she said. Her comments came as the U.S. Border Patrol rounded up about 30 illegal aliens, who had been spotted and reported by the Minuteman volunteers, on the shoulder of Highway 92 near her home. Mrs. Kolb stood on the highway and applauded the agents and the Minuteman volunteers as the aliens were loaded into a Border Patrol truck. "Thank you, Border Patrol. Thank you, Minuteman volunteers," she shouted across the roadway, jumping with both hands in the air. The Coronado National Memorial is a favorite corridor for alien and drug smugglers. Law-enforcement authorities said many of the drug smugglers also have been stopped by the Minuteman volunteers, who have set up observation posts all along Highway 92 -- focusing on the numerous deep washes and concrete culverts that cross the four-lane road.

Good story--thanks!
Our government should be embarrassed that civilians have to take it upon themselves to protect our borders from illegal immigrants. In fact, the Minutemen should submit bills to Congress and the President for their time and expenses. They obviously are doing a much better job than our border patrol.
Thanks Spiff, ... It's working!
Wow, one success after another. Is there any way of keeping the minutemen around year-round?
Wellllll...They ran through the briars and they ran thru the bushes, they ran thru the brambles where the rabbits wouldn't go...
I think that we need to lobby Congress to allow the Minutemen to deduct their border enforcement costs from their tax liabilities. :)
Law Enforcement Officers never like it when their job is done better by civilians.
I've long thought that many of these border officials who oppose the Minutemen probably have a finger in the smuggling operations. They hate it when our borders are guarded by American patriots
I wish we could keep the Minutemen around but unlike liberals, THEY HAVE JOBS!!!!
Well, it seems they either need to make a move or die of thirst.
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state..."
Well, people, here's the proof of that subordinate clause in the 2nd Amendment. It is the militia providing national security in the absence of our government.
Truth be told, when the issue is the border I can't tell who's worse: the Dhimmocrats or the Republicans.
they are still getting thru. yesterday, here in tucson, the Border Patrol stopped some pickups on I-10 in town, and arrested 15 illegals at the roadside. the stop caused such a mess there were three accidents behind it, and the backup was over 3 miles long. i was caught in that mess. even when they get caught they cost the citizens of this country.
there needs to be a REWARD for whistleblowers who turn in EMPLOYERS who hire these illegals. then the reason for the illegals coming here WOULD END.
One if by land
Two if by sea
Three if their from Washington D.C.
This should get some attention!
