Chicago, IL, Apr. 13 (UPI) -- Regulation of online gambling is emerging in the United States and elsewhere, but that is not likely to slow the worldwide phenomenon, experts told UPI's The Web.The World Trade Organization last week ruled the U.S. government could regulate Internet gambling and authorities in the United Kingdom are establishing a new public body to police online gaming activities. "We hope that at some point it does get regulated," said Jessica Rovello, chairman of Arkadium.com in New York City, an online wagering forum. We don't want to see people taking out a second mortgage to finance an online poker game.

What business is it of the government if I do? This is nothing to do with them caring about me. They want to start taxing the winnings.

Online gambling is a scam, no regulation, you might as well throw your money into the fireplace.

Yup, and who ultimately foots the bill for those retards? You and I. My opinion on internet gambling, is if you cannot afford to travel to a casino, you likely should avoid it.

So you want to tell me what I should do in my life if it may end up costing you money one day? Do you smoke? Do you drink? Do you speed once in awhile? Dangerous road to go down.

Bingo!

The U.S. is about the only country in the world that taxes gambling and lottery winnings. Lucky us.

Las Vegas has strict controls on gambling, on the net the comapnies are run off shore. You got to be a real hardcore to take them odds.

"We have hundreds of thousands of players who enjoy the product," Rose said. "We have people who enjoy playing for $20, $30 or $40 for a few hours of action. You can't drive to a regular casino with that kind of money and do that."

A fool and his money are soon parted.

OTOH, a moderately skilled player can make a few bucks.

Heck yes if it ends it means money going from my pocket to yours. I'm tired of financing other people's stupidity.

I agree. I think we should ban fatty foods because I have to pay for the heart attack victims who don't have insurance. I also think we should ban compact cars because they are a health risk. Smoking - gone! Drinking - back to prohibition! Euthanasia and infanticide - legal if the state decides it will cost the public more money than its worth to sustain their quality of life!

So, some welfare queen can have ten kids, sell crack, and not look for a job, ever, and you'd have no problem paying taxes to support her? If someone wants to gamble that is their business, if they want me to cover they losses they can rot for all I care. I would support unregulated online gambling if the participants signed an ironclad waver preventiing them from seeking government relief should they lose their ass.

Online gambling is a scam, no regulation, you might as well throw your money into the fireplace.

Many online poker sites are very reputable and let you play against other live people with the house taking a cut of the pot, usually, for example, 10% of the buyin for a tournament. If you own a site, why would you cheat, at the risk of scaring away players, when you are pulling in $10,000 an hour in legit fees alone? These sites operate on reputation.
