For weeks the MSM said Bolton would have difficulty winning confirmation, which I took to mean he's a shoo-in. Near as I can tell, Democrat opposition to DarthBolton boils down to two things: 1) Bolton will be U.S. ambassador to the U.N., not U.N. ambassador to the U.S. and 2) he doesn't think the U.N. should run the U.S. Bolton -- nothing but a 'yes man' to America.

I sure love Thursday at FR's Finest...

Where else can one get straight forward common sense commentary complimented with graphics to drive the point even further.

Why Is Sin So Bad?

Read:

Pain. Abject, horrible, excruciating pain. Unrelenting, unbearable, unspeakable pain. With each slash across Jesus' back and with every muscle-burning step up Golgotha's hill, our Savior received the punishment for our sin.

In our let's-make-everything-okay world we often look at sin and wonder, what's the big deal? After all, our sin isn't so bad. If we lie a little or cheat just a bit-what's the harm? If we gossip some or use coarse language a few times-whom will it hurt? What's so bad about sin?

It's bad because of what it put Jesus through. Yes, our sin was the reason for the torment Jesus suffered as He made His way to the cross-and as He hung on that cross and ultimately died a horrific death.

Of course we can never undo what has been done; that pain can never be reversed. Yet we must understand that if we continue to sin knowingly, we are in effect turning our back on Jesus and His pain. It's as if we're saying that it doesn't matter to us what we put Jesus through, we're going to do what we want. To sin in the light of the cross is to tell Jesus that even His intense suffering has not taught us about the awfulness of sin.

I know I have said it before if not on this thread but others I find your Senate confirmation hearing strange and in some cases down right demeaning to professional men and women who have already held responsible jobs in other key government departments.

I cannot imagine Gordon Brown or Jack Straw having to go before a Committee to see if they could be appointed Cabinet Ministers. I suppose though on the other hand as all our cabinet ministers are also members of parliament they are answerable to Parliament for their actions and the opposition can challenge them in the house during debates.

It is just interesting how the 2 systems though similar in parts differ in some many ways.
