Are families going to report deaths after they happen? As soon as they do that, the people in space suits will come for them. I fear that they will bury them in silence.

I think you are right, which means the death total is pretty much line with 2ndreconmarine's chart.

Has there been any change in the official numbers in the past couple of days? As far as I can tell, the folks in charge have absolutely no idea of exactly what sort of mess they are in charge of.

I think they are stuck with the very limited nature of information gathering in such a society. OTOH I wonder how unhappy they (the Angolan authorities and WHO, mostly) are that there aren't more fatalities to have to report.

215 dead out of 235 infected = 91.5% mortality rate. That is one nasty bug.

91.5% is low because the 235 includes people who just haven't gotten around to dying yet.

91.5% mortality rate could be *high* since we don't know how many are infected. That number infected *could* be (much) higher than 235.

I guess that's true, but we've not seen a single report yet of someone who survived being infected by this recent outbreak. I'd love to see it.
