LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - He may be leader of the free world and Time magazine's "Person of the Year," but a new international survey of women makes certain that President Bush is far from being the sexiest man alive. In a recent online poll conducted by Esquire magazine, 11,000 women in 15 countries were asked to rate Bush's sex appeal on a scale of one to 10, and America's commander-in-chief failed to register much more than a two.
Women in Australia, Germany and the Netherlands were the harshest judges of George W.'s sexual allure, giving him an average rating of 1.4 each, Esquire said in its survey released earlier this week.
By contrast, Indonesian women were the most generous, giving Bush an average score of 2.2; American women found their president slightly less appealing, rating him a 2.1
Other countries contributing to the survey included Austria, Brazil, Britain, Israel, Italy, the Philippines, Russia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
Bush has fared far better in other recent magazine rankings, having been named Time's "Person of the Year" in December and making that magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people this week.
But Esquire magazine's "Global Survey of the Female Species" was not confined to questions about Bush.
Eighty-three percent of Italian women said they preferred sex to cuddling, for instance, compared to 63 percent of American women.
And while American women said it takes an average of 5.5 dates with a man before having sex with him, Swedish women said they would sleep with a man after 4 dates, the survey showed.
He gets high marks from this American woman. He a real man, and that makes him very sexy.
I think ater Clinton we've had our fill of presidents with sex appeal for the next century or two.
Funny, I don't ever recall hearing whether anyone ever thought Washington or Jefferson or any other president before JFK had sex appeal. And the only one who apparently has had it since JFK is Billy Jeff.
I suppose they think Al Gore and John Kerry ARE sexy.
Whoever these women are they do NOT speak for me! I like manly men, like the president and my husband.
But, unfortunately for Esquire magazine....sex appeal has nothing to do being leader of the free world. Thus, making this ridiculous poll, well...ridiculous.
I used to think he was very sexy and macho but ever since Terri Schindler died, all of the Republicans look like impotent silly little boys . . . with the possible exception of Tom DeLay.
He's not exactly my type, but he's certainly no "2." A certain beautiful woman named Laura seems to be quite smitten....and that's really all that matters.
There's no accounting for taste. I find GWB enormously appealing...but I thought Telly Savalas was too!
Inane "poll" with inane results from an inane magazine.
This needs a does ping!
No accounting for taste, my wife was partial to Charles Bronson
I don't give a rip if a president has sex appeal. I give a damn about his being faithful to the Constitution, protecting our rights, freedoms, and sovereignty. That's what I voted him in for in the first place.
Hmmmm...no clear indication that human women were actually involved. No wonder they got such a strange result. ;)
Whereas I am sure Bill Clinton, John F Kennedy, Peter Jennings, Dan rather... are at the top of their list
:))
I wonder if they did a similar poll when LBJ was President.
Most definitely off to get the sexy pics
I don't even know what to address first.
Obviously sex appeal isn't why you hire a president! Yet Reuters feels it's a damning discovery.
Second, International poll? Since when have world polls ever worked to his favor.
Third, G.W. is distinctly American and American women have a different response to him. As it should be.
Well, they didn't ask me.
I agree with that 100%. He's not my type either, but if he's a 2, then there are a lot of Senators and Congresspeople who are in the minus range. And I'm not sure there's a man alive who would be a 10. BTW, can you imagine them having the chutzpah to poll American men about Nancy Pelosi or Hilary Clinton and publishing the results?
As others have said, it matters little. It's a silly, superficial poll by a silly, superficial magazine.
