Police Issue Warning About Sex Offender Working As Clown
Man Says He's Trying To Move On
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Eastern Iowa police issued a warning about a registered sex offender who's now working as a clown at children's birthday parties.
Stanley Johnston was convicted of lascivious acts with a child under the age of 13 back in 1993. Police said he's served his prison time and was released.
Marion police put out a public alert Thursday that Johnston was now working as Magi the clown. Marion's police chief said he's not judging Johnston, but said the public has the right to know.
Johnston said he's upset because the crime happened so long ago, and he's trying to move on, NewsChannel 8 reports.
Steve Conlon, who oversees the sex offender registry, said nothing prohibits a sex offender who is no longer on probation or under a court's order from choosing a career that involves children.

Gacy was a clown, ironically, in Waterloo, Iowa during the 1960's before he was arrested for being a pedophile there.

Maybe this explains why kids instinctively recoil from clowns.
Clowns have always creeped me out.
So do we.
Also, Johnny Depp and Billy Bob Thornton are anti-Clown or "clownists". ; )
And to think he met with President Carter, and got his picture taken with him. YUCK.
Kudos to the Iowa police for looking out for the community and children.

My sister was chased into a public bathroom by a clown when she was a little girl. She has always hated clowns!

Yes he was. I think this man should have tried another job, like moving boxes in a warehouse maybe; soda jerk; bar tender; selling newspapers, something other than a clown at children's parties. Because that gig is done now, I think.

Well, let me tell you what ... there should be a national law that states just that. Perverts have no business being around children EVER, even if it's their own !!
