My strides will slow, but hopefully - with good diet and exercise - when I'm in my late 70s and not in my late 50s.
That's all.
I'm a libertarian Republican - what people do with their own bodies is their own concern.

Dora Dear is paving her way for a political life. She is spreading money around in a way that gets her plenty of press time. There isn't a MiLls alive from Farmington who didn't break their neck to get in front of the camera.

I've been following Dora Mills and Mary Beth T. Welton and the Partnership for a Tobacco Free Maine for several years now.  And I hate what I see. I hate what they have turned Maine into.

Our state revenue is bad enough, yet just because they can't stand smokers, they are closing down private businesses left and right.  How "do" they sleep at night!

God help us if SHE ever runs for Governor.  I think she is running Baldacci now as it is!  He doesn't look very smart, so someone has to be behind him. eh!

We need to clean out that house in Augusta.

Oh yes.  Probably the money she is spreading around is the taxes Maine smokers are paying on cigarettesI think there needs to be an investigation into her spending!

Ha...I don't smoke and I live healthily. I love watching smokers and folk gorge on junk food, it only makes me look better and likely ensure that when I'm 70 I'll be jogging past their graves.

Jim Fixx thought so too.

"Non smokers have looked forward to the day we could go about our business and not have to avoid places and leave places before we were ready to leave, because one person felt it was their right to stink up the air."

Not all non-smokers are so weak that the require the government to do their bidding. The antis disregard the rights of the property owner and bow to the government enforcement of their proferences. How does it feel to be a statist?

"We recently attended a concert and the fireworks created a smoke haze that lasted over an hour. Not ONE person complained about that. You couldn't see 3 rows in front of you for awhile. The irony, NO SMOKING signs were posted every 2 feet!! LOL"

I always take those opportunities to light one up and point out the idiocy to anyone that complains. My favorite time was at an indoor truck/motorcycle event. The place was filled carbon monoxide and it was very difficult to breath. I decided to light a cigarette and a couple of people started to complain. They couldn't figure out why I was laughing so hard.....

Another good one was at an outdoor lounge, where smoking was allowed, they were grilling on a giant grill. Well, I started to smoke and this lady asked if I could move to another table. I responded that I couldn't understand how my smoke was bothering her, the smoke was blowing completely away from her, but the BBQ smoke had her completely engulfed. She turned red and left the bar.

Unfair...............yes, Ditter likes non-smoking, but does not work to pass laws to force them.

We need to stop the sniping at each other folks - we can all get along and live together - the sniping is exactly what the anti-everything cartel wants: divide and conquer.

Reveling in the passing of statist laws is just as bad as working to pass the laws. Much like celebrating a tax increase on the "rich" because it didn't hit the person celebrating.

I understand your sentiment throughout this thread, but I'm not sure I can fully agree. The reason I am having difficulty with it is that the only way to "not fight among ourselves" is to move further to their side. If we are forced to sacrifice some freedoms to keep from losing all freedoms, well we might as well give up. I'm sympathetic to your message.

Think of the left and their ability to continue pulling the Republican party to their side by staying on course. The Republicans continue to give a little in the hopes of getting a lot, yet they never get movement to their side.

That is not my point at all...........we must all work together to STOP the encroachment on freedoms. We have to give up our petty differences and all work together to stop those seeking to strip us of our freedoms. We have lost too many as it is because they have succeeded in dividing us. We must close the divide and present a united front against them.

The only compromise I am talking about is amongst ourselves - we can not compromise with the other side.

I hope I am making sense.

How much younger would Jim Fixx have died if he hadn't taken care of himself.
There are always 'wierd cases'. Keith Richards will probably keep standing after the Apocalypse, but its still good policy to take care of your health and save $.

I remember when Fixx died, my co-worker had just taken up running; he had a magazine that had a feature story on Fixx. The article said that Fixx dad had died at a relatively early age from a heart problem that had been apparently passed on to Jim and that his doctor had advised Jim Fixx not to do the solitary marathon practice runs.

But he was obsessed, by the notion of staying one step ahead of the reaper, I suppose.

Jim Fixx would have lived if he had only not exercised, smoked cigarettes, and ate dingdongs.
