I smoke, eat what I want, have no blood pressure or cholesterol problems, am in my mid 40s, keep up with an active 6 year old, do my own home improvements including hauling lumber and supplies up ladders and stairs without being winded.........and will probably outlive and with less health problems most of the tofu eating joggers I know.

A "healthy life" means different things to different people depending upon many factors..........not just diet or smoking.

And my term "prideful" was more in regard to your sanctimonious comments regarding others you look at with "amazement and amusement" not about your son or barbecue sauce.

You need to remember that for some, gloating is numero uno on their to-do list. Others like to play a sort of a "I am better than you are" oneupmanship, kind of thing, i.e.:

I may drink too much, but at least I don't smoke.

I may cheat on my taxes, but at least I'm not a lush.

I may steal office supplies from my employer, but at least I don't file phony workmen's comp claims.

Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera ....

My husband smokes like a train and at 63 could probably whip up on any man on this forum. 5'10", 160 pounds and not an ounce of fat on him. He eats whatever he wants and just moved nearly a cord of wood single-handedly this afternoon.

I'm also in my middle 40's, eat whatever I like and smoke. I have no blood-pressure issues or fat on me either. I helped Mr.Okie build a barn last summer while tending two kids and a huge vegetable garden, canning the proceeds thereof, tending to three dogs a cat and 2 acres of grass and an orchard. And those were just the outside chores.

Health Nazis, indeed.
