I just added a report from this weekend to another post (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1385236/posts?q=1&&page=221#221) but this might be a more appropiate post for the report.

---

My wife and I were on the border this last weekend. We attended the rally and helped man the Naco line. Great experience.

Jim Gilchrist was most impressive at the rally answering reporters and others questions and posing for pictures for all comers. We then we marched along in front of the Border Patrol station chanting, "More Border Patrol".

Along the Naco Line the minutemen were mostly on the high ground scanning the south side of the border. Comm was well organized: a call the Border Patrol brought action right away. I didn't see any of "them" getting across although some did approach the 4-strand barbed wire fence that serves as the border along that stretch.

The ACLU (refered to as "yellow-bellies" for the yellow shirts they wore) were inter spaced along the line although they didn't seem to be doing much except playing frisbee all weekend. I had a camera at the ready in case that frisbee catch a good south gust of wind but luck they remained Americans, so-to-speak.

Looking across the border you could see trails worn smooth from the endless footfalls of the millions who have crossed, along the way rags were tied to bushes and trees lead the way along trails to the holes cut into the barbed wire fences. We eyeballed the trains that passed occasionally on a well used track and trucks on a road in the distance as well as the the many dirt road crisscrossing the Mexican desert.

Side note: We also drove along the border near the town of Naco where the Army Engineers were erecting a tall solid metal fence. We applause them for their service but not the government that supplied the materials they had to work with. The fence was a mishmash of materials, mostly portable runway panels reminiscence of WWII fame. All material used and worn. Every few yards a new material salved from some government scrap yard or other.

"Mexican and US citizens trying to 'heal' the border by singing and chanting to it."

Let me guess, they are all singing Kumbaya ?

Exactly what I was thinking.

As a Canadian who believes in honoring the law, if millions of my fellow-countrymen illegally entered the US; I'd perfectly understand the need for the US to secure your borders.

After all, your number one priority is to protect your own citizens before worrying about our sensibilities.

I find it disgraceful your president seems oblivious to how dangerous the open Mexican-US border is to your country's safety. It isn't just about jobs; it's about security.

If a new terrorist attack occurs on American soil from terrorists who sneaked across the Mexican border; I hope all conservatives will have the sense to impeach President Bush and imprison him for not doing his job in protecting you.

Read the other stuff on this site, too. I had no idea that a UNION could possibly be more conservative than a Republican Administration. A more alaming note on here is that Bush's Attorney General pick is a member of La Raza (The Race) - a subversive group that advocates the forcible seizure of the American southwest followed by a genocide or forcible expulsion of all non-Latinos including Native Americans.

I too share that concern. Many folks think shipping that little boy back to Cuber was a thanks to GHWB for running a lousy campaign for re-election, from BJ Clinton. With Sandy "Pants" Burger getting a slide from the Justice Department, the plot thickens.

Same here. I was amazed to see what was on their website. Some pretty spunky union, that is. I hope they don't get in trouble with their management.

Just as we suspected. The grunts love the MMP while the BP manager-class spouts the White House line. Thought so.

Oh-oh, this thread has been overlooked. It's still standing.

I suspect because it is perhaps one of the funniest threads I have ever seen on Free Republic, to wit:

I had no idea that a UNION could possibly be more conservative than a Republican Administration.

Now, Peter, let this old Democrat tell you something about unions. They used to be organized to protect the worker from the management abuse. That ended many moons ago.

Now, unions are managed to attract more members so the dues grow so the union management can get richer and move all their stolen loot to Mauritania and the Caymans.

Of course the BP union wants to take the opportunity to bash President Bush and using the dumbfounded MMP organizers as foils is perfect for the job.

The formula is simple.

Demand more agents.

Get more agents.

Get more dues.

Retire with the new boat and the condo.

If you think the BP union is helping conservatism and protect this country then you have a lesson coming in 2006.

Useful idiots someone says all the time.

Read the whole site.

The BP union has links and support for agents who are trying to LEAVE the Border Patrol.

Also, all of their links are conservative.

And they are applauding the MMP.

You just don't understand union leadership...and don't let them fool you into thinking you are hearing from rank and file.

They hate President Bush. They love dues. Period.
