But should not our spirit (soul) prevail over our passions since our soul is in God's image?

If Adam and Eve had not eaten the fruit of the tree of knowledge, then yes. But, our fallen nature means that we lean toward evil and effort is required to overcome evil. God has given us free will and intellect to choose Him (follow His will) or to reject Him (follow our passions/will).

First, thank you for your thoughts. Secondly, you mentioned that our soul is in the image of God. There was no evil until Adam and Eve ate the fruit. That's when they fell and we as humans became fallen. Yet if there was no evil, the fruit and the presenter of the fruit could not exist. In addition, if the soul is the mirror image, then it would win out over the flesh. If not, then we are admitting that the flesh has more power than the soul which in turn would indicate that the flesh is more powerful than God.

No, there's something more there.

Is Satan even mentioned in Genisis? How could God say on the 6th day that he looked at the earth and saw it was good if evil existed and was lurking?
