Mainly, I enjoy parsing Latin. I do think Ratzinger took the name Benedectine to fulfil the prophecy but I'm a bit of a cynic. I mean, why not? It makes for good press and the vatican is probably one of the most savy PR machines in history. JHVHO.
As JPII was dying on April 1st, Cardinal Ratzinger was receiving a Benedictine award. He has had long ties to the Benedictines.
