My father was Air Force, my brother is Army (in Afghanistan) so maybe that's why it didn't have a familiar ring.
Army sayings that I'm aware of via my brother:
Soup sandwich (= big, jacked up mess)
Kank (= to cancel an exercise, event, etc.)
