A God Of Absolutes

Read:
Malachi 3:6-12

I am the Lord, I do not change. -Malachi 3:6

Bible In One Year: Psalm 28-30

cover I am dubious about the accuracy of our bathroom scale. So I've learned to manipulate it in a self-satisfying manner. The little adjustment knob serves to vary the register, and if that becomes too much bother, I just lean a certain way. The idea is to get a favorable reading-hopefully one that is a few pounds less.

We live in an age when many people believe there are no absolutes. Self-serving behavior is rampant and tramples the moral law given for the protection of society. Our culture prides itself on "freedom" that is actually slavery to sin (Romans 6:16-17).

But there is a God of absolutes whose scales never lose their adjustment. With Him, a pound is a pound, right is right, and wrong is wrong. He says, "I am the Lord, I do not change" (Malachi 3:6).

For us as believers, this puts steel into our spiritual backbone. We gain confidence in the face of difficulty and are assured of the fulfillment of every divine promise.

If God were easily moved by every whim or notion, our eternal destiny would be in constant jeopardy. But because He is the Unchanging One, we "are not consumed" (v.6). "His compassions fail not. They are new every morning" (Lamentations 3:22-23). -Paul Van Gorder

Unchanging God who reigns above,
His truth remains forever;
And from this faithful God of love
No earthly trial can sever. -D. De Haan

Good morning all and what a pretty post, ((Mama_Bear)). I didn't work yesterday and really missed FReepers. My old laptop has bit the dust and my new one won't be here for about another week. In the meantime, I can only look around here at work. Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday.

Now, as for baking a pineapple pie for Wolfie, I would have to have a slice of that as it's my favorite.

Mornin' Mama Bear. Beautiful day up the valley - blue skies and very little wind. Good day to wash the Mustang, put the top down and cruise around with The Beach Boys blastin' from the tape player.

My apology to you, Miss Billlie, for entirely missing your thread yesterday!
One of those 'on the road' days, and by the time I got groceries, tried a new recipe (good and easy one for salmon croquettes!), ate dinner and settled in at the computer and waded through the thread to the end...I was plumb tuckered.

Noting that Mama_Bear hinted she might play copy cat today, I gleefully pulled up her Bear Family Photo Album to gather ammo for today....last thing I 'membered before I went into hibernation...:))

Came to this morning with keys imprinted on my forehead, and saw I had slept 11 hours, stirring only once at 7!!

Sure enough, here was this!
" 7. I've been organizing the Bear Family Photo Album ......for LadyX."

Goody goody goody!!!
Going to see what I might use..:)) - bbl

"Sheesh, Mama - did we have to dress like this
to watch The Highland Games?"

"Don't worry, Mama - I'll have our little bear down in a jiffy."

[ To be continued later this evening -- have to give my kitty a B-A-T-H !!! ]

Today at work, I had the opportunity to attend a presentation by LTC Scott Rutter It was great to hear him speak and his presentation was very good. There were protestors outside of the building, they later came up to the area where the presentation was. Scott Rutter was asked if they can come in, and he welcomed them....signs and all.

Towards the end of the presentation, Mr. Rutter took questions. One of the last to raise their hand during this time was an Army soldier who served in Iraq. He wanted to let the protestors know that it is their right to protest, thanks to the Military. He got very emotional, brought tears to my eyes.

I met some of the members from the Republican Club and thanked them for being involved. Told them it was refreshing to know there are some other folks on campus that think like I do :-)

Bless our Military, I am so very proud of them and thankful to all.
