When the White House says Democrats are trumping up accusations against John Bolton, nominated to be U.N. ambassador, it's kind of like the White House saying Martin Luther King Jr. trumped up accusations of racial bias: sad, laughable and demonstrably untrue on its face. But that's the line the Bush administration is taking on Bolton, despite an almost certainly fatal wound his nomination suffered Tuesday in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. After an impassioned plea by Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, said what he had heard troubled him enough that he didn't feel comfortable voting for Bolton. If Voinovich voted no, the outcome would have been a tie, killing the nomination. So the vote was put on hold for a few weeks while more information is collected. The best outcome of this hiatus would be for Bolton to do the right thing for himself, the administration and the country, and withdraw his name. He is unfit to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and he is now such damaged goods that his effectiveness as ambassador would be nil.

I want a hard charger riding rough shod over the UN. The more I hear the libs talk about him, the more sure I am that he is the man for the job
Bolton's not a neo-con.
Then should come Melody Townsel, who wrote an open letter to the Senate committee detailing Bolton's abusive and harassing conduct toward her when she worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development
Townsel is a nutjob who makes Anita Hill look like the paragon of sanity.
Maybe Bolton would be better received if he would join Chuck Schumer's Masonic Lodge.
I agree, we either need someone to change the UN or remove ourselves from the UN.
Barf is right!
Bolton needs to withdraw because some lefty bimbo had her feewings hurt?
[Spit]
I HOPE he hangs in there and the pubbies grow some spines over this. We need him at the UN.
If affidavits against Michael Schiavo couldn't convince powerful people that Schiavo was a bully, why should a mere open letter against Bolton be taken seriously by powerful people?
The Star and Tribune is a horrible paper where the editorializing starts from page one. They would editorialize in the classified ad section if they could figure out a way to do so.
The Star and Tribune routinely gives away thousands of copies of their paper daily in an effort to manipulate readership statistics.
This is ridiculous. First our appointed officials didn't do enough to stop 9/11. Now they complain that Bolton was mean to his understaffers, and that's more important than having good intelligence workers.
Obviously, having a kinder, gentler bureaucracy is more important to the Democratic Party than having effective administrators.
Excuse me, I'm going to go polish my rifle, since national security in this country is being eroded right before our eyes.

Rush has been talking about this article all morning.
Evidently - there are 2 people who say SHE'S LYING about her story .. one person is her boss who wrote the letter to the Committee - and the other is a section chief who worked with both Bolton and the MOB lady and he didn't have much good to say about her to Rich Lowry.
So .. here's Rich - doing the job the MSM can't be bothered to do. The MSM just accept her statement as truth and never investigate it. So what else is new ..??

Just read this!
The latest on the evils of Bolton, from Ishikoff. Heaven forbid that we have a UN ambassador who tells the truth about North Korea and Kim Jong Il:
