I have to honestly say, the Simpsons has jumped the shark as of last season. Its really terrible lately.

I dont know if I'd go that far- they are a little up and down but still enjoyable.

This as opposed to REALLY jumping the shark where it is unwatchable...

I'm glad to hear you say so. I thought it was just me. I've found each recent episode I've seen dull and stale.

I agree - in addition to not being that funny, it seems the delicate political balance of their writers has been upset - much more ham-fisted attempts to skewer conservatives.

They jumped it awhile ago, imo. I stopped watching new episodes half way through the episode where the family went to "free speech jail" with Michael Moore, Sean Penn, and the Dixie Chicks.

The day before yesterday was the episode where Bush 41 moves in across the street and Homer and GHWB keep pulling pranks on each other, complete with George doing donuts on the Simpsons lawn. It's a really cute episode. My husband and I both wondered if that episode was made this season what it would be like? I'm guessing it wouldn't be nearly as cute.

Please, let this once-great show die with dignity. The writers have also fallen victim to typical lefty bias... something they used to avoid admirably in the past.

The religion-mocking episodes, or the 'deliberately outrageous' ones, are always the worst. Outside the musical-number ones.

"I have to honestly say, the Simpsons has jumped the shark as of last season. Its really terrible lately."

I tried to hang in there but every episode is chock full of liberal talking points.

Last week they went to Springfield Glacier which was, of course, reduced to a small puddle due to global warming. The park ranger character was quick to add that it was the position of the U.S. government that global warming did not exist. He called it a glacier, Lisa called it a puddle, insinuating the government was blind to obvious global warming. Every week, it's something else.

Ever notice that everybody in the show is portrayed as stupid, except Lisa, the symbol of liberalism?

Simpsons jumped the Shark 5 years ago. I was a huge fan. I don't even care if I see it. Family Guy re-runs are much more clever, and the new season starts in 2 weeks.
