Researchers who study the behavior patterns of sexual offenders say the idea of paying them to go away won't make society safer. If sex offenders are such that nobody feels safe with them, perhaps they need to stay in jail. That is the only thing that will make society safer. Mandatory life sentence without parole for sexual offenders.

They shoulda just bought a hit man with the money.
To: flutters
Pay a "hit man" the $20,000.
To: uncitizen
If he lived on my street, I would contribute. Of course if three more pervs moved in hoping for a similar payout, I guess I would have to move.

Not unique. Town in Oregon did this a little while back.

If sex offenders are such that nobody feels safe with them, perhaps they need to stay in jail. I agree. But add murderers (really, ALL violent offenders, I don't feel safe with any of these jerks) and a whole lot of property offenders to the list. Especially car thieves; I've had two cars stolen -- and I always lock them.
You know what criminal has the absolute highest recidivism rate of all? Car thieves!

It's better for you to move, than to put $20,000 into the hands of a child molestor. You know how much "grooming" could be had for $20K?
To: SouthernFreebird
That's like paying someone else to make the molester "go away". I like it.

Reading the headline, I naturally assumed the town in question was Chappaqua, NY.
To: NavVet
That's probably what will start happening. The neighborhood will become a sex offender magnet for the payouts.

And what makes these folks think the perp would be legally bound to stay away from their neighborhood? More likely to take the money and run stay.

I, too, agree, but where is the tipping point beyond which there aren't enough of us on the outside to pay for the incarceration of those on the inside??

Perhaps we need to once again consider the idea of sending them all to that "no-escape magical island" (same idea as Australia years ago)...oh wait! That would affect their constitutional rights....God forbid!!! Would 20K buy them a one way ticket??

I never thought of that.
Is Clinton a REGISTERED sex offender? And shouldn't he be?
