OK, whatever is important for oil pipeline security, that is where you should expect strong action next.

Russia is continually attacked from Georgian territory, the pansiki gorge (islamic terrorists), yet another largely uncontrolled region. There have been some attempts to clean it out. If the area is quelled, perhaps there would be less need for the bases.

Russian bases are placed in Batumi and Akhalkalaki. Look for the map, this is in south part of the country, far from Russian border and has nothing to do with Chechens. To be honest, how Russia can complain that Georgia don’t control its borders properly if they have the same problems? And when Georgia asking US and EU for help, Russians opposing western interference.
