Nice work if you can get it.
Officials are looking into whether Martha Stewart's appearance at a glitzy Manhattan ball last week was proper under her work release program. The probe began after the domestic diva attended Time magazine's gala Tuesday celebrating its 100 Most Influential People - including Stewart, authorities said.
"We have some information that this event may not have been directly work-related, so we will be doing some investigating," said Chris Stanton, chief federal probation officer for the Southern District of New York.

Well, we wouldn't want to endanger innocent people by having Martha roaming the streets, doing whatever it is she was convicted of.
Idiot P.O.'s
Yes by all means, let's go after Martha.
Please leave all the terrorists, pedophiles, rapists, murderers and illegal aliens alone while we concentrate on whether Martha was out at a party for her work or not.
She got permission. Leave this woman alone!
Well, if she has anyone that really doesn't like her, they can use this to throw her back in the prison for the remainder of her three months.
She shouldn't rock the system like this.
I sure know what you mean. And I hope she did get permission. The other side could very well use this to throw her back in prison. It's been a huge waste of money, IMHO. But you can imagine when you get people against you. They will do all they can to really stick it to her.
Meanwhile, guess how many baby rapers they can't keep track of?
According to what I've read, she did get permission to attend this event. What they are now trying to determine is if it meets the criteria she got permission for, i.e. somehow related to her work. Since so much of what someone like her does is promotional, it would seem to, but if you've got somebody wanting to stick it to her, they can hassle her for just about anything. I knew a guy who worked on the Leona Helmsley case for the FBI. He said they used to deliberately set early morning hearings in Manhattan, knowing she would have to get up in the middle of the night to attend them. He clearly enjoyed the harrassment.
Good grief. Don't LEOs have any sensible priorities these days?
Who would you rather run into on a New York City Street at 3:00 in the morning, Martha Stewart or a mugger?
I'm thinking. I'm thinking!
Who do you consider the "other side" in this one?
Shes a criminal and liar Throw back in Jail where she belongs
I agree. I can't stand Stewart and I believe she got off fairly easy in her trial (actually she should have taken the deal that was first offered with no prison time). But what is the harm in someone (who is electronically monitored at all times) going to a function with hundreds of other people to be honored for her contributions to culture? She has to live with the stigma of her crime and for a prima donna like her that is the worst punishment of all.
Mugger.
