Rice Redefines Role As Secretary of State

WASHINGTON - Condoleezza Rice skips across time zones and consumes miles with the same gusto she applies on the treadmill before the sun comes up.

Three months into her job as secretary of state, Rice has pretty much defined herself as a tireless, stylish blur. She's been out of town the equivalent of one month, her more than 73,000 miles in the air amounting to almost three circles of the globe.

She walks fast, talks fast and packs her schedule, from her ritual exercise at 5:30 a.m. to phone calls late at night. She glides on the thin ice of diplomacy in a whirl between continents, a former competitive skater who gave up the sport because it was too solitary.

She talks fast. And if you listen fast, she won't have to repeat herself.

Now if we can just get Bolton and some judges, we'll see
a world of difference.

In other words, Condi is doing her job, as it should be done!

Go, Condi!

Following the immensely popular Colin Powell into the job,...

Translation: She's too conservative to ever be as good as Colin.

Rice quickly has emerged as one of the most recognizable of Bush's senior circle

Trans: Stands out in a crowd of lily-white republicans.

and the only one mentioned as a possible candidate for president. Rice has said she does not want that job — NFL commissioner would be more to her taste — but not everyone buys that.

Trans: We think she may be a liar.

A CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll put Rice's job approval at 61 percent, higher than her boss's 50 percent rating.

Trans: What kind of president has subordinates who are more popular than he is?

Still, she is well below the rating for Powell,

Trans: Colin had sense to stay pretty much on the plantation -- he's our Boy.

who was approved by about three-quarters of Americans late last year.

Whatever people think of Rice's diplomacy, they treat her as something of a rock star. Everywhere she goes abroad, Rice occupies front-page real estate in the local papers. At home, it is possible her clothes and hair are under closer scrutiny than her job performance.

Trans: Dames are good for fashion tips, and not much else. It's not like she's going to amount to much.

These leftist losers never miss a chance to bash Bush. Frankly, who gives a damn about what a Gallup/CNN poll says. What is IMPORTANT, is if the people are doing their job. Approval rating -- a dumb liberal media metric. Approval of what? Based on what knowledge...the color of their socks??? The liberal MSM at its finest.

As an American I am so very proud of Dr. Rice and the job she's doing. Her charm and diplomatic skills are GREAT. And I was particularly proud of Dr. Rice when she firmly put the lunatic Barbara Boxer in her place! Of the Republican men who have been nominated by President Bush and faced the Dems' accusations and questions, I haven't seen one come back telling them off like Dr. Rice did - and with a firmness and complete dignity. I'm praying she runs for President in 2008.

"Dr. Rice representing AMERICA, a first for a secretary of state for at least twelve years."

Amen to that! She got a surprisingly good write-up in the WaPo today. Fashion chatter and personal grooming idiosyncrasies aside she is really imposing discipline at State. Show what a scheming machiavellian dud Powell really was. He's been really showing his true colors recently regarding the Bolton affair.

I get so tired of hearing how wonderful Powell was as Secretary of State. The media and Powell seem to be the only ones who believe that. His big "success" the UN resolution allowed saddam 9 months to plan the insurgency.

He was rolled by the French twice at the UN and
couldn't get the Turks on board.

Actually, I think the foreign countries have much more respect for Condi. Maybe, now that Powell's inserted himself into the Bolton discussion in a sneaky and unhelpful way, Powell's own record can be open to discussion.

Doing her job. Showing Maddie and Colin how it should be done.

I do thank General Powell for his latest interference. I could have taken the moment of his resignation to celebrate, but instead I thanked him for service and wished him well. With his attempts to stop the nomination of Bolton he is presentingg his cultivated image for the entire world to make note of the real man, ruining his reputation without one hand lifted by any of us...either than Voinovich. Petty, insolent, incapable of defering to the elected representative of the American people (our President), out of step with realities in foreign policy, arrogant and lazy to name some qualities.

"I hope she has time to gut the State Dept. of losers."
---

lol, I just took the foreign service oral examination to be a foreign service officer last month and got rejected.

I'm don't think there was a political bias, but I did make my views fairly clear throughout the test. :)

The interview and written exercise were 'non partisan'. However, the group examination may have been open to bias by judging those who 'got along' and were 'diplomatic' etc.. course, this is just me speculating since we don't know what they judged us on. It may be the case that a majority of their applicants already love the international scene and that is their reason for applying. This might be why they tend to be one of the most liberal government agencies. So, I take it back, probably no bias in the test.
