I agree with you on this one. Even if we cannot, and should not, rush to blame anyone, I do remember getting used to not close (much less lock) the bathroom door if I was home alone with any of my toddlers. And they made it to adulthood in one piece!
I wonder if it took you as long as it did me to "retrain" myself to remember to close the door:)
I know what you mean. Mine were very close in age like these poor babies. I used to wonder if I would ever be able to use the restroom without two children trying to climb on my lap. You just can't leave them alone though - not for an instant.
A few years ago, my daughter got off the school bus and found a toddler getting ready to wander across the busy road near our home. She walked around with the baby, ringing doorbells and talking to neighbors until she found the right house. She rang the doorbell a bunch of times and finally peaked in a window. The mother was passed out cold on the couch - never heard the doorbell. We called the police, thinking perhaps the mother was dead. She said that she was just taking a "nap". We called and reported it to the proper authorities and I've always wondered what happened.
How can people be so careless with the most wonderful gifts that God has ever given them?
