I imagine the "sewage" pond is a storm-water retention pond. We have lots of them around here. Cat tails, ducks, frogs, bugs - all sorts of things to catch a kid's interest. (Some with a park bench nearby and nice grass - kind of a mini-park.)

Well, if it is a retention pond that puts a different light on it. The Fox reporter did call it a sewage pond.
I will keep my mouth shut, because as many have suggested here, I don't know the truth and I shouldn't rusuh to judgement. Prayers for those poor children, however.

Yep, true true. I live in Martinez and I used to play around them all the time. Sometimes they are BIG. Lots of times theres black racers or even cottenmouths around them. Not this time of year probably and Im not saying a snake bit the kid but I used to love em when I was a kid. That was about 1983 though.
