How thick are you? How thick do you think I am? Are the Indonesian soldiers shooting the natives in Papua New Guinea or just in West Papua, the territory annexed by Indonesia? Are you telling me 'Papua New Guinea's Islamic population is growing, too' to make it appear as if the increasing population of West Papua is not the result of FORCED migration of Indonesian muslims deliberately designed to displace the indigenous people who remain alive? Are you counting on the fact that the rest of the world, particularly the US, is too busy taking care of business in the ME, that the trouble brewing throughout South East Asia is not well understood?
Let me remind you of the existence of Matiqi 1,2,3, & 4. The establishment of sharia throughout Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philipines. Mantiqi 4 refers to the Australian mainland and Papua.
Save me from stories about friends in the area during WWII, nostalgia and black and white photographs...the muslims are comitting genocide!

"Papua already has a brutal history. International organisations estimate 30,000 indigenous people were killed during the turbulent 6 year period from 1963 to 1969. Moreover, observers believe 100,000 people have died in Papua over an extended 39 year period of occupation and systematic intimidation. Exploitation of vast natural resources, poor provision of medical services, famine and an overwhelming Indonesian military presence have all contributed to this tragedy.

Three issues are currently important. Firstly, there a massive shift in demographics as outsiders settle in Papua. Secondly, there is the possibility of a "Maluku"-style conflict with arrival of the Laskar Jihad in Papua and the formation of their organisation, "Forum Komunikasi Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jammaah". Thirdly, there is serious collusion and co-operation between the Jihad, the militia and the military."

A personal friend in mil-int (whom I must not name)stationed "over there" sent an SMS to me a day or two ago.

Apparently they've been sitting on this guy for just a bit, and yes, he is singing like a bird. They are already sitting on a couple others thanks to his information, but details will not be released yet as they still feel there is a bit more of the ol' daisy chain they can follow and unravel successfully.

All I am free to say is keep your ears to the radio the next week or so, kiddies. Things are about to get VERY interesting...more than they have been in a long time!!

Faraj al Liibi, BTW, has been a friend of OBL's for 15 plus years, and is THE "ops" planner for Al Qaeda, and overall number three behind Osama bi'in Pajamas and Ayman al Zawahiri.

Apparently allah-uzza/satan forgot to tell Faraj that the US soldiers are big, healthy, brutes and might scare him into wetting himself like a whipped pup...

How humiliating could that have been?! ROTFLMAO!!!

Oh not wetting himself like a whipped pup, oh not that, anything but that!

Glad to hear he's singing. They all do, they are all cowards.

Well, I'm glad the Aussies are keeping an eye on the Papuans, good allies in WW2, because this is really the first this Yank has heard about it.

We worried so much about the "Commies" taking over and the Islamist fanatics are "sliding into" the areas vacated by the Commies...

It's like trying to rid one's house of cockroaches.

Yes, it was quite interesting to hear NPR featuring all this talk about "the trail to OBL is cold"...I don't usually listen to NPR, but had a rental car and that was on the radio, and it instantly reminded me why I don't listen.

But I admit that after this capture, even they couldn't blast Bush very much. They had to admit that Bush didn't overplay this capture, but that it was an important one nonetheless. Funny thing was that none of the analysts they interviewed (in the clips they played, anyway) mentioned anything about the intelligence to be gathered from this pup.

I wonder if NPR is finally a bit happy at some successes...normally they'd run a piece on prisoner abuse right along with any big capture and possibility of intelligence gathering.

Re: PRAYER REQUEST for Abu Faraj al-Libbi.

Earlier this morning, via the Clinton News Network (aka CNN), Hamid Mir stated that Abu Faraj al-Libbi is not the Al qaeda #3 and thinks many have got overexcited have Abu Faraj al-Libbi mixed up with Anas Al-Libi who is on the FBI's most wanted terrorist list..

If anyone has anymore info, please fill me in...

Re Kreteks... they sure reek!

The first time I smelt someone smoking them in Indonesia, I thought they had some strange new blend of local marijuana.

OK, so the person that was smoking it had bleary red eyes (and looked kinda mellow)... so maybe that made me jump to conclusions... but then again, so do many others who smoked that stuff.

It seems to have taken off in Malaysia too, and the cheaper kreteks are favored by the poorer Muslim locals (Bumis, as opposed to the non-Muslims, mostly ethnic Chinese or Indians) who can't afford Marlboros like most everyone else...

From Opinion Journal.

Thus far, the clericalist bigots have been probing and finding only mush. A large tranche of the once-secular liberal left has disqualified itself by making excuses for jihad and treating Osama bin Laden as if he were advocating liberation theology. The need of the hour is for some senior members of the party of Lincoln to disown and condemn the creeping and creepy movement to impose orthodoxy on a free and pluralist and secular Republic.

See? I am Christopher Hitchens - he used the word "bigots," so we must be the same. ;-)

You were replying to post 400, which was Gondring's post. Why did you address your post to me if you were replying to him? Now, who are you trying to communicate with?

See? I am Christopher Hitchens - he used the word "bigots," so we must be the same. ;-)

So, you are Chistopher Hitchens? I am afraid you aren't making yourself very clear.

Maybe Gondring can figure it out, since you replied to his post (but with my name?)

Give it a try.

Well, NPR kept stating yesterday that Abu Faraj al-Libbi was not on the FBI most wanted terrorist list, and that there was no reward for him. Yet news outlets have claimed up to USD5MM reward from the US (the actual amount for Anas Al-Liby) and USD300,000 from Pakistan for his capture. So it does seem very plausible this is the wrong fish.

It was the Twilight Zone about the wax museum of famous murderers; at night they came alive; this guy is a dead ringer for one of the wax dummies.

:-) I have that book at home, myself! I think they did a good job with it..nice summaries and it's fun to look through the casts and remember "oh yeah!" What's your favorite episode?

I have read that the wetted pup in custody has a skin condition; that's why he looks that way, and that's one way they ID'd him.

They could sic Pfc Lynndie on al Libby with her instruments of torture; including (gasp)the dreaded undies, the diabolical dog leash! Dare I suggest such horrors and still call myself a Christian (actually I'm a messianic Jew, but why quibble over irrelevancies?

Gee! I was kinda hoping they gave him a little whooping upside his head, for the good of what is left of his soul!

While I have many favorites, I have to say these are my top five:

After Hours -- Anne Francis was great and I can still hear the mannequins whispering "Marsha?" "Marsha"

Miniature -- one of Robert Duvall's early roles and a beautiful story

Death Ship -- really spooky without using monsters or cheap looking space aliens

Jess-Belle -- Anne Francis again--awesome backwoods story with spooky overtones

Walking Distance -- who doesn't want to go back to a more innocent America--just for a day?

Honorable mention: A Hundred Yards Over the Rim; the 16-Millimeter Shrine; The Trouble with Templeton; The Jungle; Time Enough at Last; The Fever (fffrraannkkllliinnn); Nick of Time; The Odyssessy of Flight 33.

Your turn. Sorry to go off topic everyone, someone punched my Twilight Zone Button!

LOL! Or finally getting rid of the cockroaches only to discover you have a termite infestation! And they will destroy the house from its very foundations...

Oh my, Ari... You hit that same button of mine!

I'd say I will reply when I have Time Enough At Last, but that wouldn't be fair! One thing to say, though...our tastes seem to run very closely... I loved Death Ship, and I thought I was one of the few to put Jess-Belle on my favorites list.

Anyway, for more of a response, I must get back to you later, as it's quittin' time and my brain is fried! This rat race has me tempted to make a stop at Willoughby... (I bet you don't have THAT one as a favorite!)

And now I'm thinking of The Eye of the Beholder and how I felt so silly for even considering getting the collectible figures when they came out (admittedly it would have been with a generous employee discount from my friend at Disney!) But I like that episode even if it was a bit predictable.

Shoot... chase me out of here!!
