One cannot but wonder what will happen if Mexico ever becomes politically unstable. Will a tenth of Mexico's population migrate north, as happened last time they had a revolution? Today, the population of Mexico is 100,000,000.

Mexico right now is in a very precarious position, with a popular leftist presidential candidate (Lopez Obrador) whose economic plan will be a disaster and will sink Mexico further into poverty - we better get the border reinforced, because they will be coming even faster if the leftists take over.

You couldn't beat the Mexicans lead by brother Santa Anna at the Alamo<<<

I know this post was not to me, I just needed a question answered about "brother" Santa Ana, (as posted by Clintonbegone)

Didn't he turn out to be a coward or something? didn't he hide his rank by changing uniforms with a foot soldier? If this is a Mexicans view of a leader and great man, then we MUST keep illegals out.

It just seems so sensible and logical that the ACLU should go to Mexico to urge THEIR government to treat THEIR citizens better, like perhaps have actual democracy or something. They could change their name to the MCLU and we would be rid of them and the illegals. Everybody would be happy!

And take the ACLU with you...

This is the lead-in for a call for tougher hate crime and anti-discrimination laws.

Exactly!

The genius of the strategy is that they play the entitlement card AND the victim card. According to CBS news last Monday night, Mexicans here illegally are now civil rights victims.

the reality of the situation is that Mexico is still getting their millions through and those millions are getting better benefits every day because their leaders are working for them. Sickeningly, our leaders are working for them, too.

This will be GWB's legacy, in my opinion.

The Bush/Fox administration here in America comes to light.

Santa Anna was addicted to opium, and once escaped capture dressed as a woman, which was a serious disgrace in that era.

How times have changed! Nothing is a disgrace now, except being a patriot!

It really underscores our leaders' incompetence when we find ourselves praising Mexican strategy. They can't get anything accomplished in their own country, they can't get reforms pushed through, but they're a juggernaut when they pressure U.S. politicians and businesses for change. That's pathetic.

I am against shiny new laws for government and business to ignore but there is one new law I'd like to see.

Maybe a court decision could make it so without a shiny new law. To wit, advocates for ILLEGAL immigrants should be considered de facto sponsors and as such "deeming" would apply.

All resources of the advocate-sponsor would be deemed to be available to the immigrants.

Advocates say ILLEGAL immigrants deserve the same chance as our ancestors. I agree -- if the advocates pay all the living expenses of the ILLEGAL immigrants, their families, aged parents, cousins. . . .

End of advocates for ILLEGAL immigrants, I bet. (Though it is a very lucrative industry rivaling the civil rights industry.)
