I recall hearing that when the libs had control of the House, Rebublicans were not even allowed to go to committee meetings being told "since they were a minority, they had no say on any issue".

Can anyone cerify this?

He's talking nonsense. Cooling saucer, checks and balances, the same old code words.

If there is no vote, how does the Senate, as a body, inform the President that his nominee has been rejected so he can nominate another??

This is rich!! My side of the aisle represenets more people than your side. nanny nanny boo boo Take that you rascally republicans!!!

But as always, Biden says something then renders it meaningless by saying "that's irrelevant". so like Biden, (and Hatch for that matter)! "On the one hand, but on the other hand" politicians make me wanna puke!!

I do wish I'd taken count of how many times Biden would say "quote/unquote" during this rant.

My Chiefs usually get more yardage in the game than their opponents....but they still usually lose the game.

He just means that the democratic senators represent more people because there are a lot of Republicans from states with less people. Democrats represent several of the most populous states. True, but irrelevent.

awful Republicans will not enter into a compromise

The 'rats, sensing they have the votes, are refusing to compromise over SS private accounts.

Be careful of digging too many holes. IIRC, the Pubbies did the same during the Prescription Drug Bill formation. They shut out Dems from any of the meetings to formulate that legislation, but they did invite drug and insurance co reps to help formulate that legislation.

I suspect Biden has notes in the margins from the writers of this speech: "raise voice here". "display dismay here". "repeat for emphasis". "stretch out 3 syllable word into a 5 syllable word". "Kerry style hand gestures here"

What is Biden advocating now? That confirmation requires unanimity among Senators? ;-)

He seems unusually unstable.

Thanks to Freemyland for the link. A good history and explanation of Senate procedure.

Now, suddenly, they care about the founders and their intent?

It's true and that's why they have more reps in the House, but the Senate is not based on population.
