RINO ALERT- Possible Republican challenger to Linc Chafee silenced in RI
The Providence Journal ^

Posted on 04/27/2005 12:04:41 PM PDT by nycfree

GOP superstar, and VERY, VERY likely candidate for US Senate vs. Linc Chafee, Cranston Mayor Steve Laffey has his 1st ammedment rights stripped by the union thug controled RI Board of Elections.

It seems that the union thugs who control RI are fully backing the re-election of RINO Senator Linc Chafee. They have created an all out war with the Mayor and they have now manuevered to get his weekely radio program pulled from the air by the RI Board of Elections.

These union thugs are the same guys who all disaffiliated and regested Republican in the 2004 Mayoral primaries to try to defeat this popular Mayor. They were trounced by the Mayors forces.

Then a member of a public employee union threatened the mayor at a city council meeting by rushing the dias and screaming "I'll knock you right out"

These guys are lower than low. It looks like Laffey is going to make a run for the US Senate and rest assured that they will do all they can to derail the Mayor's Senate campaign. The mafia mentality lives in the RI unions.

Lets get ready for an epic battle between good and evil.

Considering it's RI, I'd rather have a RINO than a DemocRAT.

Conservatives in this region should not count on fairness in elections. They need to explore non-traditional routes to the top.

I believe Stephen P. Laffey is a Republican. The Republican party and the Democrat party are -both- against him.

Rhode Island is still behind the Iron Curtain. Don't say anything the lefties don't like or you'll end up in a Gulag.

If Laffey wins the nomination, his odds are better than Chafee's for keeping the seat.

Don't let Chafee get "Spectered" back into office R.I. We let Specter back into the senate in PA, and all he's done is get in the way.

Laffey could restore Rhode Island's good name, if only it had ever had one.

Laffey would be a Great Senator and it would be great to kick Chafee's butt in the primary.

Just out of curiousity...why do so many people on this board say Democrat party?

Two reasons that I know of. First, to sound totally stupid, and the other is to piss off readers.

Good post. I really wonder how many of the people that post in here are active in their local Republican party. I am one of those persons that registered Democrat years ago but probably have voted Republican or Libertarian 90% of the time. Being from New York, I think I have voted for the Conservative Party too. I am about to switch to Republican even though I have this real big fat libertarian streak in me. When I called the local Board of Elections in NYC I was told that my changing parties wouldn't take effect for about a year. (that was Jan. or Feb.) Don't they have computers? Or are they working with chisels, hammers, hieroglyphics and Rosetta stones? Those who know about being active in their local Rep. Club fill me in on how this works. I always thought that it was the local clubs that put up the candidates? Pretty much, I have never done much more than vote or write a letter on occasion. Part of me would like to get involved, but another part wonders if it's worth it because of all the BS that flies around at these things. Just think, we here in NYC have the choice of Bloomberg or 5 clowns that are running on the Dem. ticket. There is a guy named Ognibene who is Conservative and has support of the Queens Reps. but he really doesn't have a chance against Bloomie and his billions.

I take back every good thing I ever said about Mayor Laffey.

He just went on the air and bragged about the city of Cranston accepting consul ID cards to help out the legions of illegal aliens in his city.

He went on about a plan to insure that the good people of Cranston would pay up to provide services for this horde of criminal invaders.

Add another to the list of traitors.

Simple -- because the Democrats are hardly Democratic. Calling them Democratic would be an insult to the institution.
