Frankly, I don't care personally much if he was able to get mere painkillers "incorrectly" for pain. Libs are trumping this up cuz they hate Rush, but it actually points out how ridiculous it is we have regulations for every stupid thing. Sorry, but when I have strep throat, I know it and don't need to go to the doctor. At worst I should be able to call up and say I need a prescription for it. Libs don't know it of course, but they're setting it up so their hated doctors have more business and money by making every1 go to a doctor every time their finger is pricked by a thorn.

If they want to be consistent on the painkiller subject, the state of Florida had better raid the records of every retirment home and nursing home resident in the state. The abuse is rampant. They might nab a few doctors as well.

Sorry, but when I have strep throat, I know it and don't need to go to the doctor.

From a medical standpoint, there is sound reasoning to prevent people from going out and buy certain meds OTC. The standard of care for diagnosing strep throat is a throat culture/DNA probe. I have yet to find a doctor who can accurately diagnose strep without one of these. People taking antibiotics when they don't need them is one of the major reasons that we are now having increased incidence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. As for "painkillers", it is very easy to get hooked on narcotic prescription analgesics, even in those who thought they had tremendous "willpower".

As for having to go to the doctor "every time their finger is pricked by a thorn", I assume you mean that doctors are more reluctant to treat a patient over the phone. Blame the lawyers. If this society was less litigious, then doctos would have more freedom to use their judgement in treating a patient without an office visit. In some cases, this can be done, in others, it's best the patient sees the doctor face to face.

And if you get the drugs, take them and something happens, who will you sue? I recenty had surgery and had to have tests done. What I want to know is why would they give me a pregnancy test? Aside from the fact I am 44 and male, I cannot think of a reason.

it actually points out how ridiculous it is we have regulations for every stupid thing.

What it's sad about this law is that we can't blame the liberal Democrats for this intrusive law. A Republican state legislature and a Republican governor turned "doctor shopping" into a felony in Florida.

The "drug warriors" have no shame, and they are members of both political parties.
