And why should Japan fade away? They spend more on defense than China and have the 2nd largest economy.

The editorial said China and Taiwan should shake off the "old pattern" of KMT-CCP dialogue and adopt a "new pattern" of formal dialogue between the two states.Since Taiwan is not a part of China I agree that dialogue should be independant country to independant country.
Keep the pressure up Japan. We need you against China.
