Man Wanted Son Shielded From Discussions

BOSTON -- A dispute over a children's book that includes gay characters leads to the arrest of a father in Lexington, Mass.

David Parker refused to leave the Estabrook elementary school Wednesday after a meeting with School Superintendent Bill Hurley. Parker confronted school officials after his 6-year-old son brought home a book titled "Who's in a Family?" The book includes parents who are gay.

In a statement, Parker said he asked that he be notified in the future anytime his son is exposed to classroom discussion about same-sex households. Parker said the superintendent turned down the request.

When he refused to leave, Parker was arrested for trespassing on school property

Isn't LEFTIST, LIBERAL ACADEMIA beautiful??? This parent at least had the fortitude and commitment to his child, to do something about it. If I had it to do over again, my children would NEVER SET FOOT IN A LIBERAL-LEFTIST GOVERNMENT SCHOOL. I would work three jobs if I had to...to put them in a healthy, apolitical, EDUCATION institution...not a radical leftist indoctrination camp.

ah, yes, my post made it about 10 seconds after the other one did. I saw the story on WHDH/7 but couldn't find it on their website so I went to Ch. 5's.

Mr. Parker must be the last Republican in Lexington. There used to be a lot of them there...believe it or not. Of course, that was before Massachusetts joined the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Nyet to you, Comrade Parker! Please to be getting out of my office or I vill be forced to call KGB!

10 seconds.

How long the principal would have been left standing if you had been there? How long it would have taken to yank your kid out of the school? How long you expect to wait till the outrage begins here?

I would have been arrested for a lot more than "Trespassing."

A Whole Lot More.

The arrest has nothing to do with the father being against the gay character in a book. The arrest has everything to do with him not leaving when the matter was closed. I have no problem at all with him being arrested. If he were there arguing FOR gay books and didn't leave, we'd all be cheering his arrest.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE SCHOOLS ARE RUN BY PEOPLE PRESSING FOR GAY RIGHTS AND BOOKS! I STAND WITH THIS MAN AND THINK HE DESERVES A MEDAL. I WOULD TAKE MY CHILDREN OUT OF THAT SCHOOL IMMEDIATELY.

Of course, that was before Massachusetts joined the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

We're fast becoming the United Socialist States of America.

He could be re-arrested if he goes onto school property to pick up his kid! See the video on the Ch 7 site. (Can't pick up or drop off his son, or even step on school property in any way). Due back in court in June.
