This is sad...a close friend of mine has been heavily involved in BB/BS locally for a lot of years. All of his kids turned out well. It's a shame that many of these good organizations and those involved in them are being ruined by a few of these (expletives deleted).
Big Brothers and Big Sisters have been good programs that helped many kids over the years. We can't toss out these programs just because of a few problem participants.
The case against this man seems strong and the accuser seems credible. The case should go to trial and possible conviction. That means the system can deal with those who are the bad apples.
We can't damn the programs (BB, Boy Scouts, churches, etc.) as they do much more good than the few problem cases that arise. Parents just have to be careful who is around their children and check up on what's happening, even Uncle Eddy can turn out to be a bad guy.
Also, an accusation can be false. The accused should be given the presumption of innocence and not railroaded to jail by an over zealous prosecutor who is out to make a name for himself (Janet Reno started out this way).
