Here's why they were there. The media buys up tables and get to invite anyone they like beyond their cloistered world to this affair. It is after all a night for the MSM. So who do they invite? Some might invite a celeb who backs Bush but of course most hating Bush will invite an anti Bush celeb as an in your face up yours gesture. These celebs aren't going to get an actual White House invite as long as W is there.
