I read something recently where radical gay groups encourage their "members" to donate blood. They consider it to be discrimination to NOT allow gays to donate blood.

Several prominent homosexuals, like Elton John, were so upset by the tactic they actually expressed their regrets personally to people who were infected by blood transfusions and helped raise money for their treatments. One young boy in Ohio comes to mind.
People also started storing their own blood if they needed surgery. If they needed surgery quickly, family members were pressed into service as donors.
My kids and I donated blood for my wife at the behest of her doctor, who was concerned about the blood supply in the Northeast.
For some reason, this is no longer mentioned in the MSM. But no member of my family will ever be subjected to the common blood supply if we can help it.
