Years ago, when I was a log-cutter, the little bastards would throw pine/fir/spruce cones at me -- the hard, little solid ones that hadn't splayed open yet. They would just rain them down on me. It was kinda cute, but it made me glad I was wearing a hardhat. I felt kinda guilty, cutting down their homes; but I got over it :)

We had some trees accidently removed on the east side due to a deisal boon truck losing control and the buggars moved into the spruce behind our living area side of the house.

And they drive the Labradors nuts.
Esp. lately around 4am right after I get into a deep sleep.

My boys are decked/fenced in and the spruce trees are withen feet on the other side.

I get the feeling they are teasing the boys and getting a kick out of it.

Those hard lil cones can pelt pretty good we had a storm blow through last month and it caught my attn. to go out and see what was thumping the deck. First thought was the squirrels being funny but when I stepped outside and the wind blew me I knew.

I've been beaned with Walnuts dropped ny squirrels. A friend and I were hunting up a creek bed once when a crazy squirrel charged us, ran up the front of my friends coat, jumped on top of his head and leaped into the brush. We were stunned for several minute until we both cracked up and fell down laughing.
