I'm glad to see another liberal rag's readership decline, but I'm curious if all newspapers aren't starting to see a decline. If I want the news, I don't go to a newspaper, I come here!
And entertainment too!
"I'm curious if all newspapers aren't starting to see a decline. If I want the news, I don't go to a newspaper, I come here!"
Know several people who have worked in newspaper sales telephone boiler rooms. They said, in trying to sell subscriptions to the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, the Detroit Free Press, and the New York Times, many people flatly refused the first three papers because of their slanted and unfair editorial policies. The New York Times is just difficult to sell outside of New York. They said the would have four hour campaigns for the New York Times and the entire room of 40 or so people might sell three subscriptions total. A friend who sells the Arizona Republic says that they have trouble selling the Republic, too. It seems to me that there is some kind of readers' revolt that is going on.
