DENVER (AP) - The Air Force said Tuesday it is setting up a task force to investigate the religious climate at the Air Force Academy after reports of intolerance, including incidents of anti-Semitism.

The task force will assess Air Force policy and guidance when it comes to religious respect and tolerance, acting Secretary of the Air Force Michael L. Dominguez said in a statement. It will also look into practices by commanders "that either enhance or detract from a climate that respects both the free exercise of religion and the establishment clauses of the First Amendment.

Is is not the general consensus that the AF Academy is the most PC of all of the military institutions of higher ed?

I wonder how anyone knows who the Jews would be. Is there a list? Are they wearing badges?

Perhaps, but I see no reason why true anti-semitism or bigotry should be tolerated there, or at any other service academy.

Although it is of course possible that the "bigotry" consisted of someone making an accurate statement about the teachings of Islam.

Yes. And the active-duty service is also the most PC.

sometimes the last name gives it away pretty easily. An evangelical revival probably broke out so they have to reign in the Christians.

It may be. But the reports of what was taking place there, with semi-official command support, should have given pause to anyone.

One is not at the USAF Academy to be prosletyzed by seniors, or to prosletyze one's subordinates. One is there to be trained to be an Air Force officer. When I was in 'Nam, we didn't give a hoot how (or whether) the guy next to us prayed. We merely sought to keep each other alive until DEROS.

No, it most certainly is not. Years of allegations of sexual assaults of female cadets have been ignored or worse.

As an Air Force veteran (enlisted) I am sorry to be even distantly associated with this sorry institution.

Sometimes, but even that isn't tried and true.
Also people marry Jews and are assumed to convert, which they don't always do.
Sometimes a Jewess will marry someone with an Irish name and who would know that she was Jewish (Howard Dean and wife) unless s/he "announced" it?

My question still isn't answered.

An evangelical meeting? Lol, just A LTTLE prejudice on your part peeking out? Why assume they are, en masse, bigots?

Maybe, but that would also ferret out the Muslims and Hindus -- neither of those groups eat pork either. Lol.

But they're giving (well, selling) us such pretty new utility uniforms in shades of grey and blue! With logo, no less!

Maybe the Jewish cadets attended religious services, held a Passover Seder, lit Chanukah candles, had Hebrew bibles, etc. Does the Air Force Academy have a Jewish students group and/or a Jewish chaplain?

That's why I joined the Air Force. Blue is my color.

"... a particularly virulent form of Christianity.."

This phrase was used by a Jewish Lawyer who had attended the Academy, and whose sons were currently attending and were "victims" of Christian prostelization.

He was quoted in a column by Jean Torkelson in the Rocky Mountain News. The column read like a press release from Barry Lynn (Separation of Church and state talking head).
