Exacerbation of suppression of students & activists at the threshold of the regime's flashy elections
Iran Press News: Khatami's Propaganda Minister, Younessi, in a speech admonished boycotters of the fake and flashy June elections and ordered that a speech organized by the student groups and other activists be quashed.

According to received reports: "In a dispatch by the Ministry of Propaganda to the Office of Security at the universities around the nation, in lieu of the flood of the boycott of the elections throughout the universities and the parpticipation of "extremist" factions, it is specifically essential that the presence of the following persons be strictly prohibited in Student gathering and programs." The dispatch continues: "The Ministry of Propaganda of the government of Khatami issues explicit orders to forbid Dr. Mohammad Maleki, Ali Afshari, Abdollah Momeni, Reza Delbari, Mehdi Habibi and Dr. Hatam Qaderi from publicly speaking due to their active role in encouraging the boycott of the elections."

Due to the regime's alarming need for maximum participation in the upcoming presidential elections, an enormous amount of pressure is being applied by the Revolutionary court and the security forces on the student movement.

In the western part of the country 4 students from Sahand University of Tabriz, after a year of privation from university, have been sentenced to 99 months in prison and for the 4 students in the eastern part of the country, in the province of Seestan & Baluchistan life sentences have been issued all around. Everyday more and more arrests as well as intolerable judiciary and security verdicts are handed down for the student activists across the country.

Radio Farda, the Persian broadcast of the Radio Free Europe also produced a report stating: "The Propaganda office of the central province, in a secret directive has prohibited any public speeches by various opposition members and activists who promote the boycott of the elections. The majority of these people are from the outraged university types."

..............significant progress in developing a pipeline from southeastern Iran through Pakistan into India.

According to Jane's Defense Weekly and Defense News, Tehran and New Delhi inked a secret defense agreement in 2003 providing India with access to Iranian military bases in the event of a war with regional rival Pakistan...............

The Indian's and the ragheads are not as smart as I thought!

If the pipeline through Pakistan is to provide Indian energy during a war with Pakistan, they better take over that portion of Pakistani land that the pipeline crosses, before the pipeline is blown to smithereens.

A developing country like india needs energy to sustain its 6% economic growth. Since it doesn't have enough energy resources it has to get it from outside,in this case Iran!!!
The US needs to enter into an energy dialogue with india( which it is already doing). Inorder to meet its energy needs, america should offer nuclear reactor technology to india as an alternative thereby convincing india not to buy oil and gas from iran.
Since india is already a nuclear weapon state selling nuclear technology to it will not aid its military nuclear program in any way. Besides if america can sell nuclear technology to china why not india????
America should put pressure on pakistan not to allow its territory to be used for the pipeline project!!!

Another reason why india is developing close relationship with iran is because of pakistan . among other things pakistan wouldn't allow its territory to be used to transport goods from india to central asia. Thus india is developing iran's port facilities and building roads coonecting iran , afghanistan and central asia.
So the root cause of good relations between india and iran seems to be pakistan and as long as pakistan exists good indo-iranian relations will continue!!!!!!!
Besides it is in america's interest that india and iran have some kind of military co-operation. because if iran doesn't get military equipment from india it will get them from china and the last thing washington wants is an even greater iran- china axis( than already exists!!!) and chinese navy in the iranian ports!!!! atleast with india we have a chance to impress her not to sell deadly missiles to iran.
