Maybe it's because Aggies think that Moot Court is when everyone has to be quiet. . . . . .
Another clever one..... ;^)
Another insult.
Why is it that supposedly conservative people start acting like liberals when someone pisses them off? Instead of dealing with things intellectually, they feel like they have to go off.
Incidentally, I've only been married for something like a dozen years, and my wife accuses me of encouraging the several women a week that flirt with me (which never seemed to happen much when I really did have no woman -- go figure).
What's next? Are you going to accuse me of having no life? Well, I'll tell you: after this week, I'm considering going the "no-life" route. Couch life seems very appealing.
>>If you want to judge a university by a few drunkards at a football game, feel free.<<
You still don't get it. It isn't a FEW, but institutionally supported and ignored or sluffed off by people like you. YOU are the problem, even though I doubt you ever threw anything at a football game (I'm giving you a huge benefit of the doubt here; please tell me you've earned it). But the fact that you get on here and use the word "few" means you are either ignorant, blind, or indifferent. Because you are one of those three, the nonsensical behavior continues to happen. Why don't you call the president of the university out and demand that he clean things up? You'd rather get on me for pointing it out then go to the source or demand things change.
>>Just don't call my alma mater a pretty lousy (undergraduate) school<<
I really hate to say it, but it is. I know of two people that got into tech (one allegedly was offered a scholarship -- but I didn't confirm that) after they had flunked out of Southwest Texas State and Tarlton State respectively. No, not Rice or Trinity, but two schools that haven't exactly set the world on fire academically. I've also worked with tech undergrads, and, with two exceptions (out of about 15 or so), they've been remarkably mediocre in things that other schools' graduates were consistently good at. I will conceed that there is some value in some grad schools at tech. The law school improved tremendously in the last decade and a half and is producing very good graduates. Truthfully, if the same exact school was in the metroplex, it would probably be Texas' all-around finest law school, since it would attrack people that don't want to pay private school tuition, don't want to live in Waco, and would rather get a less theorectical (at least according to reputation) and more practical legal education than you get in Austin.
>>Is Texas A&M the largest university in the nation without a School of Law? I guess Texas A&M is a pretty lousy (graduate) school.<<
Hmmm. You're going to have to explain this one to me. Are you saying the lack of a law school means the graduate program is lousy? I guess that means Princeton, Dartmouth, MIT, Brown, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Purdue, and even Oregon State and Washington State (not to mention all but 4 of the UCal campuses) have lousy (graduate) schools?
Or is this just an idiotic attempt at either humor or insult?
>>Consider yourself argued against.<<
Don't flatter yourself, dude.
If you want to drag Purdue or MIT or Georgia Tech into the discussion that's your call. I happen to respect your school a great deal, as I mentioned in my earlier post. If I hadn't attended Tech, I would have gone to A&M. If I had any kids, I'd be proud of them going to A&M.
I'm happy your basketball program is turning around - I cheered for you during the Big 12 title game against K-State a couple of years ago. I hope your football team goes 11-1 every year, so long as we are your one loss. I hope your basketball team goes 32-2 ever year so long as we are your two losses.
In short, I respect your school and everything it stands for. I'm just not going to stand here and let you rip my school because of some drunk fans at a football game several years ago.
Have a good weekend.
Wow! That's quite a compilation of Elvis tunes!
I've been enjoying listening to them, and have
bookmarked your page for future listening pleasure.
Thank you so much!
>>simply pointing out the fact that A&M doesn't have a Law School. <<
Congratulations for stating the obvious. Boy, you did a lot of research finding this out. What's next? That Miss America is for women? That I-35 is a highway and not a reference to one's age? That Florida judges couldn't make reasonable decisions about when and if to go to the bathroom?
Now, would you please inform me what your point here is?
>>I'm just not going to stand here and let you rip my school because of some<<
This sentence proves you still haven't understood my main point, so I guess it would be too much to expect you to get anything else.
>>drunk fans at a football game several years ago.<<
I'll try to make it as simple as possible:
1. Not all were drunk, or if they were, there's a VERY serious drinking problem in Lubbock involving both underage and supposedly legal aged drinkers. One that the tech administration and the Lubbock "police" don't seem to care much about;
2. It wasn't "a" football game, but everyone that A&M has played in Lubbock for most of the last decade, and a few other ones involving other teams;
3. It wasn't just football;
4. Its occured over several years; and finally, and most importantly,
5. There has been NO effort by the administration to curtail or eliminate these problems. Not even an effort to acknowledge them.
I didn't even include the dozens of stories that I've heard, some of which I believe but I think were blown out of proportion. Then there are many, many stories that I simply don't believe, or that I think certain others (non-tech) that were drunk, stupid, or both instigated. Truth be told, I think tech was probably once a decent or even good school. I do think that either due to leadership or a student cult that has caught wildfire in the last decade and a half, tech has been so desparate for a named rival of any sort -- and to them A&M seems like the most logical choice -- that they've elevated bad behavior to an art form in order to gain that rivalry. All while giving Baylor, and perhaps Ok.SU as well, the back of their hand on any rivalry suggestion and simultaneously complaining that Aggies are doing the same thing to them.
Have the last word.
I'd nominate you if I had any clout there Ma.
Thanks pal.
