I do not consider myself to be a Red Sox fan , but for years I was.
Kudos to you and others for your confidence over the season in your team.
I happen to know people who are just about out of their minds right now after the Sox loss today.
I grew up in Boston, and it would not bother me in the least if the Sox came in last place in perpetuity.
On the other hand, it ain't over yet. My Brother in Law was so pissed at me the other night for expressing these exact sentiments. I really would like to stay on his good side.

Yeah, I've been reading some of their ramblings over here. Wow! I see what you mean. Nixon was right when he said, the mark of the good loser is that he takes his anger out on himself and not his victorious opponents or on his teammates. This is clearly not the case here.

I got a big kick out of the thread (addressing Bosox fans) entitled: "Mets fans are praying for you guys." ....lol. This is the time of year when Mets fans sole occupation is praying the Yankees lose. ....a fairly deplorable (albeit common) state of affairs.

Ok, the Yankees get the division title bragging rights -- a temp victory. You get to celebrate for 24 hours or so.
