I have always appreciated your insight, too, Ivan. I have gotten to the point that I look at whoever has written to the blog to find out if it is a 'trusty' source. You have been one, and I hope you decide to stick around, even if just lurking.

As for comparison between our relationship with the British and the French, whoever said it is an idiot - we fought together in Normandy 60 years ago because the French couldn't/wouldn't stop Hitler, and the French, quite frankly, aren't even on the radar for most of us today except for wine and loose women. Regardless of Tony Blair's other shortcomings, when push came to shove in the Iraq action, we again went into war together, for the sake of freedom and security. For that and more, we are grateful to your country. Conversely, we owe the French nothing.

Anyhow, I need to get over there to see the Goodwood Festival one of these days....
