WASHINGTON D.C., May 4 -- The 300,000th American has now signed the petition urging Pres. Bush to secure our borders immediately.
The petition ( www.ReformUS.org ) went on the internet for the public to sign just last week, Monday, April 25.
We promised to keep you updated on the progress of our very ambitious goal to deliver 1 million petitions to the President before Memorial Day. The outpouring of support has been astounding.
Click on the graphic to the right to get a full view of the progress thus far. The chart reflects solid figures as our computer eliminates all duplicate signings early every morning.
TIME FOR A SECOND-WEEK BOOST
There was tremendous enthusiasm last week as a number of TV and radio talk show hosts publicly drew attention to the petition and its address.
But that support has dwindled a bit in recent days. Some of the hosts seem to be a little discouraged that they weren't able to persuade 100,000 Americans every day to sign for the first time. Bill O'Reilly made a good point on his TV show the other night that at least 1% of Americans (3 million) ought to care enough about the problems of illegal immigration to do the simple act of signing a petition.
But from working on this issue for eight years, we know that it takes a lot to get most people to take any kind of action at all. The key to mobilizing enough Americans to make a difference in Washington is PERSEVERANCE.
New signings have dropped to around 10,000 a day. We have to double that rate if we are to reach our Memorial Day goal. I have no doubt we can do it, but it never happens by accident.
SEND OUT MORE 'TELL A FRIEND' REFERRALS TO THE PETITION
If we are to reach the million-signer goal, it will be because people like you "multiplied" your interest by sending this opportunity to everybody you know -- and also because lots of you who listen to talk radio call in often and give the www.ReformUS.org website name on air for people to sign the petition.
Go to the petition page and click on the link in the middle that says:
Click here for current petition count and to forward to friends
There you will see a place to type 10 email addresses. After you submit the addresses, you can go right back and fill in another 10. We already have people who have entered more than 60 addresses!
TAKE ANOTHER STEP AND SEND A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS TODAY
Thousands of you responded to my suggestion last week that you may also want to make sure that your U.S. Representative and two Senators are fully aware of how you feel about immigration issues. You used the free fax service on our website. On one day last week, we achieved a new record when Americans ordered more than 28,000 faxes to be sent into Congress, demanding reduced immgration levels.
Send FREE FAX messages to Members of Congress over the internet by using this link : http://www.NumbersUSA.com/fax
Let's keep this national campaign building that wall of support that will be so large that the President can't avoid seeing it.

I just signed. Sure would have liked an earlier number, but beggars can't be choosers. ; )
I received this in email.
I, too, signed!!!
The borders should have been secured immediately after 9-11. Unbelievable that it still has not been done.
Signed.
So you might want to contact Spamcop. As of this moment all of my Mailservers will be removing SPamcop's blackhole list until they get it worked out. Just found out that unlike the bigger blackhole operators, they do not bother to thoroughly check reports before assuming they are correct.
Let me know if you get anything worked out.
"Vigilante's" my azz! Grrrrrrr!

I signed it several days ago, and passed it on. But thanks for the update.
