Republicans would lose both houses of congress if the Democrats really pushed this issue.
Agreed. Americans are sick of it. Such has been suggested to the Party leadership again and again. But they NEVER listen.
Yes, but the Democrats are counting on those now illegal hispanic votes in future. This is the best chance for a third party candidate, average Americans are fed-up with this travesty.
They won't
I don't know if the dems would win over the illegals. The dems use to have a large PTA/Soccer mom base of support. The introduction of homo agenda's to the school curriculum is a major issue they won't be forgetting anytime soon.
Probably, but could they ever really do that. Aren't they counting on illegals someday becoming future Democrat voters? The unions have flipped on this along time ago, recognizing that immigrants -- legal or illegal -- provide them with growth opportunities.
What are the Democrats proposing?
"Republicans would lose both houses of congress if the Democrats really pushed this issue."
Each democrat and Republican will take a stand, based on local circumstances.
At the federal level, Hillary, with a get tough stand, WILL beat any Republican that runs on Bush's record.
Now I'm not saying she will be able to sell her brand of "get tough" and I'm not saying the Republican candidate will adopt Bush's record.
But the time seems to be clearly NOW that America demands changes.
Connecticut wants the Governor to enable deputizations, for what the feds won't do.
Arnold is moving for same, in California.
But we can pass and have laws at all levels, to no avail, unless resources (money and manpower) are devoted to enforcement.
Is Bush's latest solution to ADD another 50 immigration agents? 150, 550, 1,050?
When we need 25,000 or 50,000 or 200,000 added?
Bush wouldn't dare enflame his donor base of business interests, would he?
We currently have a no fault system. The employers NEVER go to jail, or pay huge fines.
The immigrants NEVER are punished enough, to convince others to not try.
Republicans will lose both houses and the Presidency if Democrats promise to deal with the illegal immigration problem. That is a given.
Of course when in office they won't do one real thing to fix the problem, but voters have always fallen for being lied to. The Republicans have not shown any reason for voting for them other than they are not officially called democrats.
