"I was beyond appall by the presentation of an armed citizen," Bob Atack, a local developer who attended the April 12 hearing, wrote in a letter to County Manager Virgil R. Hazelett.

"As I observed his behavior from the podium, almost within arm's reach [of] the most important elected officials and senior management of our county, it caused me to tremble."

This is the funniest thing I've seen or heard in a month!

A grown man trembling at the sight of a gun. You have to wonder if he responds thus to the armed police,or does he think they are supermen, above us mere mortals.

This man was lucky that a child didn't point his finger and say, BANG! This man might have been mortally wounded!

And when the carnage was over, how many people did the gun kill? WHAT? No one? Incredible.

I have no doubt he views the police as a superior species, magically transformed into irreproachable super-citizens by their badges!

What a sad commentary that some one merely having a gun on their person in public raises such alarm.
I would be more alarmed if fewer Americans were armed.

"A gentleman does not go out without his pistols"
Which of our founders said that?

The only politician who will "tremble" at the sight of a gun on a citizens person is a politician who has reason to "tremble".

Oh brother...So this derelict barely made it out of the meeting alive...And surely the stranger was a murderer...Why else would he carry a gun...Especially around the 'most important people' in the county...Barf...

Imagine this terror: One of the little people was actually standing within a few feet of those Very Important Officials.
