making a clearer distinction between news and opinion.

I don't know how they could make it any clearer, it's all hard left opinion, all the time.

One area of particular concern to Mr. Keller at the outset was the relentless public criticism of the paper, amplified by both the left and right on the Internet, that peaked during last year's presidential campaign.

The paper was largely silent during those attacks, and Mr. Keller asked the committee to consider whether it was "any longer possible to stand silent and stoic under fire."

It's hard to be anything but "silent and stoic" when The NYT prints garbage and it's refuted worldwide on the Internet.

The New York Times should return the Pulitzer Prize won by its Walter Duranty who infamously denied Stalin's famine-murder of millions.

The committee's fix is identical to the Democrat's fix: remain evil; lie better.

The NY Slimes has been lying to Americans and supporting mass murderers for nearly a century.

Captain, I think the passengers would be more comfortable if me moved the deck chairs toward the bow sections that are not yet under water. After all, the Titanic has a reputation to uphold!

The old conventional wisdow was that smart people believe every word they read in the New York Times. The new conventional wisdom is that only an idiot believes every word they read in the New York Times.

This sentiment is fatal to the Times, and I don't think there is anything they can do about it. Getting all scrappy and defensive and in-your-face will only make the problem worse. They are just going to go through the motions as the circle the drain.

In a few short years, the owners have taken a great American institution and completely squandered it. Jayson Blair was only a symptom. Maureen Dowd is just the rash. The rot goes down to the core.

Nothing in any of this recommends hiring reporters who don't have a flaming left-wing bias.

It would be interesting if journalists had to be rated on a scale, say, hard left, left, moderate, right, hard right. It could be established by an independent review board and published in their byline. At least that way the average guy on the street who doesn't stay *real* informed knows where the author is coming from.
