It's a poison atmosphere there apparently and something a lot of people have trouble fighting, not everybody, but enough Republicans do that they want to be on the in, they want to be in the big clique, they want to be invited to the prom in May every year by the Democrats and so you get the Chuck Hagels, John McCains, George Voinoviches and all the rest.

This is a little discouraging, but it's also true.

I think that after you're out of federal office--elected or otherwise--you shouldn't be allowed to set foot in the District for six years.

Not just lobby in. Set foot in.

That would almost make up for the ridiculous privileges shown to members while they're there.

How true, but you know they will never go for that, they won't give up their cushy job.

LOL! Yeah, and that too; though he won't admit it (like he doesn't admit a lot of things until the [stuff] hits the fan).

Rush often gives simplistic explanations for things. Supposedly the media and the air in Washington corrupts these people. No, they are scared by some of the polls, and by the independent, moderate, or even liberal vote in their states, which they think they need. Sad fact is the country is not the big red bouldozer the conservative commentators paint it as. There are plenty of damn moderates/ liberals in them there hills.

Rush laughs at airhead females and metrosexuals - is that why you two have a problem with him?

I agree with Sure_fine, term limits would go along way to preventing the problem.

Some people just don't like anyone smarter or more successful than they are.

And I'm not too crazy about (self-inflicted) deaf, drug-headed liars either. :)

Voinovich bad Governor......and worse Senator...

I called Voinovich's office re the Constitutional Option and was astounded by the rudeness of the woman I spoke with. She essentially hung up on me the first time I called, and when I called back she put me on hold....I tried to explain to her that we were..or, should be..on the "same side" so I didn't understand why she was so rude. Her explanation was they get a lot of calls....
Gee, and her job is ??? Guess, the Senator sets the tone for his staff.

Term limits...and perhaps devising a voting method of "involuntary mandatory drafting" to public office of the "best qualified" instead of having a career politician class.
