That's funny, MY inflation was almost zero and my wages went up 4% last year...hmmm. You didn't pay more for gas, electricity, oil, meat, etc. Where do you live?

That doesn't define "inflation" because a few items in my basket go up. That model, which the government uses, ignores changes in choices made, alternative purchases, frugality if a price rises, etc.
When it is written or said inflation for a year is X% people erroneously assume everything went up in price by exactly X%.
