After urging the spread of democracy in Latvia, The Netherlands, Russia and Georgia, President (and Laura) Bush returned to the White House. The president will resume work with Congress on Social Security and judicial nominees, as well as seeking help from China on getting North Korea back to negotiations on its nuclear weapons program.

Grenade thrown at our president in Georgia.

Text of Bush's speech in Georgia.

I doubt the validity of the story, or maybe just a toy grenade. Real grenades are very simple devices and once the pin is pulled, they will explode

Thats what I thought thanks for confirming it so it either had to be faulty or is was a "play" one.

I must admit that is my take as well, as I understand it what the object is has yet to be confirmed and the way FOX was reporting it saying it was "said to be a grenade".

I love what the Anchoress had to say. I can't figure out why his enemies hate him so (yeah, I guess I can), I love swagger! She had a link to a great "Dancing Dubya" video. he has quite the moves. I loved the dancing montage!

Probably made up by some left wing reporter in an effort to overshadow the history making speech President Bush delivered today in Tbilisi, Georgia to 250,000 extremely enthusiastic Georgians in Freedom Square, (formally "Lenin Square")

Don't discount extreme right wing as well there are far few of them in Europe at present though mainly western Europe I fear them as much as the left wing ones.

I found these words by the Georgian President and I think they should make every American extremely proud

------------------------------------------

10:27 A.M. (Local)

PRESIDENT SAAKASHVILI: I'll say a few words in English. I want to welcome you, Mr. President, for this historic occasion. You know, right now we have in the streets of Tbilisi, as they are telling me, more than 150,000 people assembled, and I can tell you, no event in the history of this country has ever assembled anything close to these numbers. It shows the importance of this visit.

Troops stand at attention as President George W. Bush and Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili review the troops during an arrival ceremony in Tiblisi Tuesday, May 10, 2005. White House photo by Paul Morse I can tell you, and you were seeing, yesterday crowds -- unfortunately, I didn't see them on the networks -- I mean, there were CNN and the others -- but they were there and we could see them, the crowds along the airport. And of course, it was very genuine. This is not North Korea here; you cannot tell people to go out unless -- if they don't feel like it. (Laughter.) And it was a very -- I mean, for me, it was something very emotional. The posters they made were very emotional.

You know, outside this building, 18 months ago, also 100,000 Georgians came in defense of democracy with a dream of living free. And in the weeks and months after the Rose Revolution, no country stood closer to Georgia than the United States, whether it was diplomatic support, economic aid, security assistance, or --, the United States was there. For this support, the Georgian people will be eternally grateful.

So I once again, want to welcome Mr. President to Georgia. The partnership between the U.S. and Georgia is about more, and we should make it very clear the strategic interests -- more than oil pipelines, more than any kind of economic or military cooperation; it's about shared values and our shared belief in freedom and in democracy.

And President Bush is a man of vision who believes in the triumph of liberty over forces of tyranny. I know he was also inspired by our journey toward democracy. President Bush is in Georgia because we agree that free people cannot rest while tyranny exists. We know that our liberty must be defended from those who seek to extinguish it. And of course, when we are together, that's much more hopeful and much more efficient.

That's why over 800 troops are in Iraq -- Georgian troops side-by-side with the Americans, and Iraqis and many others, to defeat those who live only to kill, to enslave, to frighten people. That is why Georgians are in Afghanistan, and NATO-led missions, and that is why we appreciate the U.S. support for our NATO aspirations, just like the U.S. supported Ukraine on its NATO aspirations.

The United States supports the total integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders. We appreciate this support and recognize our responsibilities. We will peacefully resolve our disputes with our long-suffering South Ossetian and Abkhaz citizens and the territories. We will widen and deepen our democratic reforms to better the lives of Georgians. And we seek friendly relations with all our neighbors. And we know we can count on the support of the United States in all these vital tasks.

President George W. Bush walks with President Mikhail Saakashvili during an arrival ceremony in the courtyard of the Parliament Building in Tbilisi, Georgia, Tuesday, May 10, 2005. White House photo by Paul Morse Mr. President, you are a decisive and visionary leader. Georgia is humbled and honored that you have come to visit our small country, but great land. We Georgians have a belief that guests are a gift from God, and you are a most treasured guest. Mr. President, welcome.

POLLING UPDATE:

Disclaimer: Polls are absolutely irrelevant for President Bush . . . He NEVER has to run for re-election again.

This said, the next time you hear some leftist pundit (or neighborhood weenie) indicate that the President's job approval ratings have plummeted just remind them of the following:

Despite the fact that pollsters have stopped polling 'likely voters' and started polling 'adults' (which enables them to oversample Democrats by 5-12 points), the President's job approval ratings have remained remarkably STABLE; conversely, the job approval ratings for DEMOCRAT and REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN have reached their lowest point in almost a decade!!!!

GALLUP:

President Bush
5/2-5/05 50% approve 45% disapprove (+5)

Congress (Democrats AND Republicans)
5/2-5/05 35% approve 57% disapprove (-22)

http://www.gallup.com/

AP/IPSOS REID

President Bush
5/2-4/05 47% approve 51% disapprove
[AP uses a bizarre 7-pt scale that makes Zogby's 4-pt scale seem valid . . . Additionally, AP oversampled Democrats in this poll by 7 points!]

Congress
5/2-4/05 35% approve 61% disapprove (-26)
[Congressional Democrats were actually rated 2 points BELOW Republicans!]

RASMUSSEN
5/10/05 50% approve 48% disapprove
(using a 4-pt vs 2-pt scale)
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

BOTTOMLINE: At a time when most American 'adults' are worried about the economy, the President's job approval ratings have remained solid at 50%, while the job approval ratings for BOTH Democrat and Republican 'CongressCritters' have plummeted to their lowest point in almost a decade!! THE PRESIDENT REMAINS, BY FAR, THE MOST POPULAR POLITICIAN ON THE NATIONAL STAGE TODAY!

FYI: If House and Senate politicians think they're having problems, they should consult some GOVERNORS!

According to SurveyUSA, Governor Taft (OH) has a job approval rating of 19% and ARNOLD (CA) is 'teetering' at 40%!

Salutatorian is the rank of number two in your class. (She got one B in 9th grade from a very bad teacher........completely undeserved......oh, well).

It means she'll give a speech at graduation, and she will give her testimony, and tell the other kids in her class to straighten up and fly right.............she ALWAYS says just what she thinks! ;o)

Thank you for posting the speech made by the Georgian president . . . Thankfully, the people who count 'get' freedom and 'get' our Dubya!!!!

His final comments are worth repeating:

"Mr. President, you are a decisive and visionary leader. Georgia is humbled and honored that you have come to visit our small country, but great land. We Georgians have a belief that guests are a gift from God, and you are a most treasured guest. Mr. President, welcome."
