So what? Martini was "in line with the Church's important teachings."
And, if the Tridentine Mass is all important (as the Prowler intimates in discussing Mahoney), McCarrick has three TLMs in Washington.
If this is Wlady Pleizynski(SP?), one can be dubious, especially after his ridiculous conniption fit over Laura Bush's completely innocent comedic routine at the White House Correspondent's Dinner.
**the biggest losers are here in the United States, where influential, liberal Catholic priests who have actively and publicly defied the Vatican, along with several Cardinals selected late in the reign of Pope John Paul II, find themselves in a bit of a political pickle.**
I like the reference to a couple of Cardinals!

It would be great if the pope appointed Fr. Fessio or Frank Pavone as the Archbishop of Washington to replace McCarrick.
I didn't know that Roger had any soldiers left.
Sounds good to me. Now if we could just get the SOBs who pretend to be Catholic run out of Massachussetts churches or burned inside them as heretics, the Catholic Church would be back in the saddle again as the faith of my fathers.
I might disagree with some facets of this particular authoritarian's Catholicism, but a hard old-school Catholic doctrine is far better than wishy-washy faith. And I'd be far happier putting money in the collection basket after the Pope has cleaned out the dross.
I'm praying that he does so, and brings back additional Latin to the Mass.
Right after he cleans out that !@#$!@^%@! Rev. Carey Landry music from the hymnals.

To say this is good news is great understatement.
Bring back the guillotine, and knock the heads off now.
With Latin as the official language of the Roman Catholic Church, why are Latin Masses prohibited in the United States? They can only be said by dispensation?
HI Nick, I thought there was a new Campion College in San Francisco, started by the former heads of the shut-down St. Ignatius Institute. Do you know what ever happened to that project? Their website seems to be down.
Hallelujah Ping!!!
I have been fighting this urge since I read this piece earlier . . . but -- at the risk of sounding like my niece at 14 or so: LOOOOOOOooo-sers! LOL!
""Some of these gentlemen may have thought they would outlive the strict enforcement of doctrine. The confirmation and ascension of Pope Benedict is evidence that they will not.""
All praise be to God!
I know a few AmChurch folks that are nervous. I figured a housecleaning would be coming (and so did they), but this just confirms it.
Amen!
It's a good time to be a Catholic Christian.
Pope Benedict XVI - I really like this gentleman!
