I recall reading about this when the charges were first filed. The Greenies were whining that the law didn't really apply to them, and that they were being persecuted because of politics.

Yeah, the first try was for them to say that the ship (which had their name painted on it) was just a "rental" (contracted for service) so we (Alaska) should charge that company with wrongdoing. Nevermind the fact that they don't have as high a standard for the folks they do business with as they do for "Big Business".

Needless to say... we didn't buy it and charged them directly. The boat and the 70,000 gallons were in their control.
