Hawass is very competent, very bright, a great archeologist, has done a lot for Egypt in this area, a showman, and also a "publicity hound", which is not really bad in general, because it brings much needed funds, by keeping the Egyptian antiquities in front of people.
But when he starts making statements that will kill the goose laying the golden eggs: the tourists, who bring the $$$$, he is letting his own ego overtake everything else, and is hurting his cause.
Speaking of clean bathrooms and Egyptian archaeological tourism... Kent Weeks found that KV5 was damaged by a leaky sewer line that serviced a tourist rest station in the Valley of the Kings. The line was installed and the damage occurred prior to the discovery of the lost tomb itself.
I am shocked. They actually have sewer lines?
Every line in the Koran is a sewer line.
You'll love this. :')
Yes, I do. :)
