hmmm, no!
We can produce items that can replace the onces that we take from oil even today.
And the use of waterpower from falls or dams are very good in yield, electricity can replace most of the purposes of comb. engines, heck Diesel engines actually produce electricity for power.

I have to say I see that none of your arguments hold their grounds under scrutiny, and ofcourse lands on the list of "most used excuses" when someone just doesn't want to change their life style.

There is ALWAYS a valid alternativ to anything we are doing today that harms our own future.
Btw: What in H!LL!! is wrong with "for the children?" I actually find that quite offensive, there is nothing more precious in my life then my son, and in that I include my wife.
So if children aren't good enough argument for you, the I think you need to do the Ostrich procedure.

heck Diesel engines actually produce electricity for power.

So in your magical "green" world, we should all drive cars that use diesel engines to charge batteries to run electric motors to power our cars.

We could also save energy if we all only drove our carrs downhill, but that is hardly practical.

Are you familiar with the scientific principal of "conservation of energy"? Every time you change an energy source from one form to another, you suffer losses. The more times you flip the energy sources, the more energy you waste.

I know that you understand this, but you just can't be bothered with the laws of physics when you are busy saving the world.

Nearly all plastics are made from oil.. some 80-90 percent of the oil we use is for product, not energy...

While I agree that electricity can be used more effectively, hydroelectric power is finite.. limited.. in the case of US power production, hydro contributes only a small percentage..Biofuels actually contribute more than hydro does..(1990 stats)
As for diesel, it's still grossly inefficient, but if you're going to use it, why waste the direct energy for producing electricity?
Diesel is a fuel created for transportation..why waste energy refining diesel when you can simply use the oil?

While none of my arguments hold ground under scrutiny, I would note you didn't seem to bother "scrutinizing" any of them.. just a blanket dismissal..

If you want to make life better for your children in the future, more power to you..
Leave him some land and money.. Your Own, Not Mine..
Just being brutally honest here, but I'm not as interested in making the world a better place for someone else's kids.. on my dime..
Charity begins at home..
When I'm "darn" sure my kids will be OK, I'll look beyond my front door...

I've got nothing against making the world a better place.
I'm all for alternative energy, energy conservation, environmental conservation, etc..
But I want some Common Sense to preside over such activities, not pseudo-science, and not politics and economic policy determined by false science..

For real electrical output we need to continue with Nuclear power, it is the cleanest on earth, but of course eviros don't want nuclear power because that would help solve the problem and their intent isn't to solve anything but to brind down society and go back to living in the stone ages, maybe the bronze age if we are lucky.

Global warning is a hoax, climate change however, is a natural occuring event that continues without aid from the human race. Were we to stop using oil completely and all other carbon based energy sources , stop poluting the atmosphere this instant, we would see no change in the climate that wasn't going to occur anyway.

Humans do not pollute enough to actually cause any climate changes. World wide temps were warmer 1000 years ago than they are now. I suppose it was all the smoke from wood and buffalo sh*t fires that caused it because those were about the only thing being burned back then, maybe some coal here and there.

Get real, stop scaring yourself with the lies the greenies tell and most importantly stop trying to force your opinion onto the citizens of the US.
