In his speech at the forum on the “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party” at the National Press Club on April 19, 2005, Dr. Jack Wheeler said, “The Communist Party has lost the mandate of heaven. And it’s over.”

I'm afraid not.
Both domestically and worldwide, it has simply changed labels to Progressive and Green.

Am I the only one who sees that?

I think it's over in the sense that we've gone ahead and embraced a huge majority of communist ideals; sure, borders and governments aren't going to go away anytime soon, but statism is known and loved amongst the people and the two major parties.

Eradicating communism? Far from it--adopted it, more like it.
